Ubisoft Quebec's open-world action RPG set in feudal Japan, released March 2025 on the latest Anvil engine. Ray-traced global illumination is enabled by default, giving Sengoku-era scenery noticeably grounded lighting — and making Shadows one of the more GPU-intensive Anvil titles to date.

How demanding is Assassin's Creed Shadows?

Shadows runs on Ubisoft's latest Anvil build with ray-traced global illumination on by default and optional ray-traced reflections. PC supports DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation (via the NVIDIA app), AMD FSR 3.1 and Intel XeSS 2. Dense outdoor foliage, dynamic weather and real-time time-of-day shifts are the main drivers of GPU load.

What GPU do you need for Assassin's Creed Shadows?

Our estimates suggest an RTX 5070 or Radeon RX 9070 XT comfortably clears 60 FPS at 1080p; 1440p calls for the RTX 5070 Ti or RX 9070 XT. Native 4K above 60 FPS pushes you toward an RTX 5080 or RTX 5090, or use DLSS 4 Quality on lower tiers. Spec a matching EMARQUE build above.
