IO Interactive's third-person James Bond origin story, released May 27 2026 on a heavily evolved Glacier engine. First Light is the studio's most ambitious technical project to date — software ray-traced global illumination at launch, with a path-tracing update arriving summer 2026.
How demanding is 007 First Light?
007 First Light uses an upgraded Glacier engine with software ray-traced global illumination at launch, traced against signed distance fields and voxels so it runs on hardware without RT acceleration. Hardware path tracing and DLSS Ray Reconstruction arrive in a summer 2026 update. PC supports DLSS 4.5, AMD FSR and Intel XeSS for upscaling.
What GPU do you need for 007 First Light?
Our estimates suggest the RTX 5060 holds above 110 FPS at 1080p; an RTX 5070 or Radeon RX 9070 XT comfortably clears 120 FPS at 1440p. Native 4K above 60 FPS lands on the RTX 5070 Ti and above; the RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 push past 95 FPS at 4K. For the upcoming path tracing update, expect the same envelope as Resident Evil Requiem with DLSS 4.
